The third Rakija Fest drew significant interest as it unfolded last weekend at CUE Podgorica hotel, in the Grand Room. This unique event delighted numerous visitors who had the opportunity, from 12 to 8 pm, to explore a wide array of exhibitors from Montenegro and the region and enjoy all the peculiarities of the queen of strong spirits – rakija.
"We are extremely happy with this year's edition of Rakija Fest. We had much more visitors than in previous years, including 2019 when the first Rakija Fest took place. This year, we had around 20 exhibitors who presented about 120 types of rakija. Among the exhibitors, in addition to producers, there were distributors from Montenegro, as well as countries in the region, primarily Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Some labels came from North Macedonia and Italy. Of course, we would always love to have more exhibitors, especially from our country, and as many as possible from other countries in the region," stated Jelena Gardović, PR and Marketing Manager at CUE Podgorica hotel.
Despite the pause caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the hotel's management was determined to continue the event, considering the significant value of rakija with its exceptionally long tradition in Montenegro.
"Rakija is a product that definitely deserves attention not only from Montenegro but also from the countries in the region. It's a product that has been crafted in Montenegro for several decades, if not centuries, and therefore, we believe it deserves the status of a national brand, which we hope institutions will recognize at some point," emphasized Gardović.
The richness of tradition and flavors offered by this exceptional beverage were recognized by numerous visitors, both from Montenegro and other European countries.
"I recommend your rakija, whether it's Šljiva, Prepečenica, Dunja, or any other, to people from Ukraine and other countries. This drink is authentic for Montenegro, Serbia, and the entire Balkans. Rakija Fest is a great representation of all of this," said Maxim from Ukraine, who attended all three editions of this event.
Enthusiasm was evident among other guests, whether encountering Rakija Fest for the first time or returning for more.
"Such events are really fantastic, and if there were more of them, it would be even better. There is a great selection of rakija and distilleries presented here. It's impossible to try everything they offer in one day, and it's challenging to choose just a few rakija to taste. Still, this is a great opportunity to talk to producers, see how everything started, and eventually buy a bottle to complete the whole story," said one of the visitors.
Due to the good attendance and positive guests' reactions, organizers believe that this event will become a good tradition in Podgorica, offering significant benefits for the entire Montenegro.
"Besides the fact that rakija brings people together, this is an opportunity for producers, i.e., distributors, to find new customers and clients. Our hotel contributes significantly because we believe that this event is truly worth it, and at the same time, we promote the destination, not only Podgorica but also Montenegro," concluded Jelena Gardović, PR and Marketing Manager at CUE Podgorica hotel.

The photo exhibition 'Behind the Face' by the acclaimed artist Nebojša Babić from Serbia was opened last night at the CUE Podgorica Hotel gallery. Babić presents a wide spectrum of personalities, from actors, artists, musicians to athletes and writers, including Anica Dobra, Voja Brajović, Mirjana Karanović, Sonja Savić, Novak Đoković, Josipa Lisac, Jagoš Marković, Zubin Mehta, Aleksandar Kelić, and many others.
The exhibition, consisting of 54 photographs, was opened by Dejan Kalezić, founder of the F64 Gallery, the only photo gallery in Montenegro.
"I wouldn't speak much about Nebojša's work because the portraits speak for themselves. What impressed me the most is the individual approach to each portrayed person. Together, we strive to elevate photographic culture to a higher level," concluded Kalezić.
Babić's portraits are special because they reveal the characteristics of each person and depict them in a way that unveils their essence, authenticity, and depth. Each portrait is carefully composed, with a keen focus on light and background.
"I am happy to have the opportunity to exhibit my photos in Podgorica. Here, I've met many wonderful people and colleagues, experiencing the warmth and hospitality. It's important that these things happen in Montenegro, throughout the region—for us photographers and the art of photography," emphasized Babić.
More than half of Babić’s photos that are in CUE Podgorica, this summer were exhibited at the F64 gallery, marking his first solo exhibition in Podgorica.

July 2023 in Podgorica will be remembered for the outstanding concerts which brought together nearly 1500 guests at the Summer Jam by Somersby Festival, organized by CUE Podgorica Hotel, The Living Room, and Elit Restaurant. We are proud of the successful concerts featuring performances by Željko Samardžić, Tijana Bogićević, Lexington band, Marija Mikić, as well as Milica Đurović and Danijel Đukić.
Summer Jam by Somersby was opened on July 4th by regional star of pop music, Željko Samardžić. It was a two-hour musical spectacle. Željko, with his charisma and exceptional vocal abilities, along with the fantastic band, delighted the audience. The crowd sang along with him, creating an atmosphere filled with love and positive energy.
The spectacular performances continued the following Tuesday with Tijana Bogićević, one of the most talented vocalists. The charisma of the “queen of emotions” and her powerful interpretation of songs left us breathless, and songs like “Blizu” and “Bezuslovno” further solidified her place in our hearts.
The excitement reached its peak at the concert of the Lexington band, a popular group whose hits have become anthems for generations. The great ambiance led the band to extend the concert past midnight, where they once again showed their musical virtuosity and talent, transmitting incredible energy to the audience.
After these exceptional performances, another thrilling evening that broke all records was marked by Marija Mikić, a talented pop singer whose rendition of recognizable songs captured the hearts of the audience. Her voice, brilliance, and interaction with the crowd created an unforgettable atmosphere and left an indelible impression on all of us.
Everything was given an extra spice by Milica and Danijel, who made CUE Podgorica Hotel and Elit Restaurant an essential destination every Thursday.

Last night, Marija Mikić, one of the most popular pop singers from Belgrade, broke all records and created a night to remember at the Summer Jam by Somersby festival. In the atrium of The Capital Plaza center, numerous famous hits were performed, enriched by her distinctive interpretations, creating a magical atmosphere that delighted everyone present.
Marija became known to the public more than ten years ago in the first season of the music competition "Prvi glas Srbije" (The First Voice of Serbia). Four years ago, she released her first song titled "Mili," which marked the beginning of her collaboration with numerous successful musicians. This led to a collaboration with Minea, with whom she performed the song "Rano," originally released in 1998, and which was also heard the previous evening.
Visitors had the privilege of enjoying Marija's talent for more than two hours as she skillfully selected popular songs, bringing refreshment and incredible energy to the stage. At the concert one group of friends celebrated a bachelorette party, and Marija joined them, providing an unforgettable night.

Tiana's talent, charisma and authenticity made us feel like we were part of something bigger and more magical.

Tijana considers the year 2001 to be the beginning of her professional musical career, when she was a backing vocalist for numerous famous musicians. She recorded her first single "Tražim" in 2011, when she performed as a backing vocalist at Eurovision. She considers that experience invaluable and always wished to appear on that stage again, which she did six years later, as a representative of Serbia.
